Dealing With Parents:
Your first session with us will be an opportunity for you and your child to know your math tutor and also for your child's tutor to know your child's maths needs.
First session structure explained -
Scenario a - If the parent does not know what areas of maths the student is struggling with, the tutor will carry out an informal assessment of the student in four key areas of maths - numbers, algebra, geometry and statistics. These will inform the plan for future sessions.
Scenario b - If the parent knows what areas the student is struggling with, the tutor will do a thorough diagnosis of the student’s strength in this area. This will subsequently inform the planning of future sessions.
Scenario c- parent knows exactly what topics the student has performed poorly on and communicates this to the tutor. The tutor will proceed with informal assessment of the student based on the agreed topics with parents. The informal assessment will subsequently inform the student’s progress plan by the tutor.
