What if there is a problem, or I don't want the tutor to continue?
Although we go to great lengths to ensure the tutor you are introduced to is a good match to your requirements, we do understand that once in a while, he/she may not be suitable. Should you feel that the particular tutor isn't for you for any reason- or if your circumstances change- let us know if you need help to let the tutor know and we will do all we can to help. We will try to resolve any issues, but if the selected tutor is not suitable, we can support you in cancelling and try to arrange another introduction, if you wish.
Please note that Advantage Tutors (Gwent) have no contract with any tutor and your agreement is always diectly with him/her, so you should always check his/her terms at the outset (e.g if she/he charges any cancellation fees).
Why is commission charged?
We'd love to provide this service for free and as it is we ask a much lower commission rate than other agencies- £3 an hour across all levels.This covers costs involved in advertising,registration and selection, maintaining a website and ongoing support throughout any agreed tuition period, plus clerical/admin costs.This is collected by the tutor in addition to his/her total fee (agreed between you), after each lesson and paid to us.
We know that there are many websites where you can link directly to tutors free of charge. However, these sites often only advertise the tutors details and do not carry out any checks at all , leaving this up to the client. Most do not meet with the tutors and cannot recommend them at all. Therefore, once you have looked through the lists online or emailed to you, you may have to phone several tutors, often more than once. You may whittle down the list by preference, then find he/she isn't available, or when you meet, find he/she isn't at all suitable. By this time, several strangers could have your contact details. Or you may engage a tutor, not want to continue but find it difficult to cancel. With Advantage Tutors (Gwent) you are supported and advised throughout; all checks are done, the tutors are personally interviewed and no contact details are passed on until both sides are happy to go ahead. Advantage Tutors (Gwent) will then keep in touch, helping to keep things running smoothly.

Above all, local knowledge, personal contact and continuing support for both tutors and client, where needed, is the mainstay of what we do. Because we are based in the area that we cover and are available, we can offer this, whereas other agencies are often based hundreds of miles away, have no local knowledge and will allocate both parties a number, send out leads then just wait for the commission to be sent in! You will always be a name to us, not a number. We also make it a rule that we would not recommend someone to come to your home who we would not be happy to have in ours!
